Honostly, There is no difference between the two same art style since manga in japanese means comic....if americans like to draw the style why shouldn't they? Hell, not like the japanese don't take everything from everywhere else then modify it....everything they use today they pretty much took off the americans. If anything it's about time we start taking things back =D

u got me wrong.

Postby lovelycherrie_101 » April 10th, 2007, 4:11 pm

it's not the fact that the americans are using it it's just that the fact that they are taking away the usual japanese customs in anime and manga and making the scenes more american like and taking the beauty away from manga/anime. i mean, i learn so much about japanese culture through manga and when i read the american type stuff it's just not hte same cuz the customs are all american.
i see what ur saying about them using a lot of american stuff which is sorta true except we get so MANY inventions and technology from them (and china) and so they didn't take much from us. that's just what i think. what about u? :?: if i'm not right then  lol.

I honestly don't think it really matters.. Nobody is forcing you to read "American Manga", so it really shouldn't bother you.

Ignorance is bliss.

If Americans want to make manga.. let them. Just stick to stuff straight from Japan.

That's interesting. it's for a similar reason that I didn't like "Howl's Moving Castle" as much as say, "Spirited Away" or "Tonari no Totoro".

I think if your trying to pull costumes and stuff from anime and manga then you should really stop o.0 It pisses japanese people off more then anything when you try and adapt that stuff to actual real life stuff since 90% of the time the artist takes liberal use of costumes and adapts it to the characters so that the reader/viewer feels a more intimate relationship with the characters compared to in real life where you would use completely different costumes and etiqute. As for the technology, the only stuff we get from them is a better version of what we already invented as for the american manga's and stuff...usually americans don't call their work manga's they call them comics Mega Tokyo being a prime example..they don't call their stuff manga it is just in the same general form....Also note Howl's is a true japanese animation lol by the same creater as Spirited Away if I am not mistaken.

I was actually talking about the setting. It was old england-ish, and didn't seem as "magical" as the setting of the other two.

im sorry...

Postby lovelycherrie_101 » April 11th, 2007, 1:35 pm

i know nobody's forcing me to read it. it just gets me annoyed tho. could some one not argue about it? the reason that howls moving castle setting is england is because the movie is based on an AMERICAN BOOK i mean a regular book not "comics" as they call them or sometimes "graphic novels" it's MANGA for God's sakes! i guess that we did make the ideas but still there are a lot of awesome inventions that are in the book "not so useless japanese inventions" or something like that.
if any of u want to be my friend i'm [email protected]
