Just wondering is it generally best to read the manga first or watch the anime first?

I know some anime shows slaughter the manga and I know some manga that lacks something the anime doesn’t…

So, what cha think?….

I watch the anime, simple reason as a avid bookworm myself, im too lazy to learn how to read in a certain way, and i prefer words to pictures to let my mind come up with its own imagery...

Manga OWNS ALL. Anime is sometimes good, but rarely, because english dubs are really crappy nowadays.

Almost all animes deviate from mangas so it really depends on your point of view. There would always be differences between them and if you're a purist then you will definitly not like the most of the animes once you read the mangas. I am in the purist category so I watch animes strictly and don't even try reading the mangas since I lose interest once things deviate from the manga.

To be blunt; Anime, because I find it more enjoyable.

I like Manga beter because alot of times it seems like there is more personality in the pages than on the screen.

i prefer anime cause im to lazy to read the manga and flip the pages. when watching the anime, all you have to do is just sit on your sofa and watch.

(sarcasim) like moving that page is sooo difficult? its so much more difficult than moving that fork and can of pop to your mouth? (/sarcasim)

meh ive only read 3 mangas. and not all of any of em. i got tired of narutos and bleaces shit so i read ahead (i wanted to find out what happens) id say it ruins the anime because all the just plain crap episodes they put in. (atleast to those) naruto has done a better job than bleach since shippuden started but im afraid that after this story arc is finished it will be more fillers. like bleach did. and i also have read some of the rurouni kenshin manga but its been a long time dont remember any of it. i have it on my computer somewhere lol.

also to whomever said they only watch japanese dubs opr something to that effect.... ffs AC is adding in subs now.

ever since the phrase spare the rod spoil the child came in, our youth has sunk so low where 86.4% of parents need counseling for their unruly child(s)...

Well, I like both a lot, but I think I prefer manga. I tend to be a reader, so I've always been a bit biased towards that media anyway. It's kinda hard to compare them directly, I think, because they are so different. With anime, the pace is set for you (I mean, I suppose you could rewind something to watch again, if you wanted). With manga, there tends to be a lot more freedom, both in the pace of the story and in the characters themselves. And I like being able to explore bits of the character on my own. (Probably why I tend to gravitate towards the more complicated animes) Now some mangas try to go out of their way to force concepts on the reader regarding their characters, but that tends to be more of a problem in lousy mangas. I also really don't care when and anime deviates from the original manga, as long as both tell decent stories.

I was going to write in more depth about this, but I'm hungry so I decided not to. ^.^

*huggles* another person who agrees with me..... that and unless you're watching it on youtube or something like that, or borrowing it from a friend, anime's too expensive.
