Chris Nolan: Memento,Insomnia, Inception, The Dark Knight ( just tacked that on to show he can do action)
Spielberg: lots of popular ones, but none that really make you think.

far superior to spielberg in my opinion.

How did Munich,Amistad,or Schindler's List make you think? They're all historical movies. They raise no questions, they just tell a story.they're all very linear plot lines.
Raiders. entertaining? yes. linear plotline, with no emotional value whatsoever, that a child could follow? yes.
Spielberg can make SAD movies, yes, but he doesn't make ones that make you think.

I like the more psychological movies myself, so I have to agree with Primary on this one.

Basing a directors .... worth? off of what the writers made is rather retarded.

The dark kngiht... was alright. nothign better than speilberg's work and did not make you think a whole lot.

Inception didn't make you think at all. the entire movie was far to vulgar. I enjoyed watching it but, really... it wasn't that good. without its bullshit ending, it wouldn't have been nearly as big a hit as it was.

insomnia... never watced it.

Memento... might never have heard of it.

If you want movies that make you think, look elsewhere than hollywood. Donnie Darko perhaps? far better than every movie listed so far, save perhaps shindler's list, not seen the entire thing.

Donnie Darko was an awful movie...

Also, If you've never seen memento or insomnia, you wouldn't realize how it made you think.

a lot of foreign films are better than the crap movies we put out. let the right one in, for example, is far better than the american version.

Also, it is funny Primary, you will be the first to go off and say stuff I come up with are opinions, yet here you are stating more opinions as if they are facts. Hypocrite much?
